Space electric propulsion

Since November 2015, Safran Aircraft Engines' electric (or plasma) propulsion systems unit is attached to Safran Aircraft Engines' Military Engines Division.

Its premises are located in Vernon, 75kms west from Paris, in Normandy, right next to Airbus Safran Launchers' site.

With 75 employees, the unit deploys the full range of resources needed to produce and test the plasma systems. The facility comprises a 200m² clean room (cleanliness monitored environment for assembly), a support workshop, non-destructive control equipment, shops and tests benches.

Safran Aircraft Engines produces systems with thrust power ranging from 500 to 20 000 W. Its flagship products are the PPS5000 and PPS1350.

Safran Aircraft Engines is the european leader in electric (plasma) propulsion systems for satellites.
