The Creusot site is dedicated to the machining of turbine disks, one of the most critical parts in CFM56 and LEAP aircraft engines.
Le Creusot employs 200 people and covers a total area of 18,000 square meters (59,055 sq ft), including workshops, offices and technical installations.
The plant is based around 3 digitally-controlled milling/jig-boring machines which can work with minimal supervision.
It produces nearly 400 turbine disks a month, including more than 20 different types. In service, these parts are subject to severe conditions: they must withstand very high rotation speeds and temperatures, with centrifugal forces exceeding one ton. This is why their manufacturing requires the great technical expertise of Le Creusot, which has adapted industrial means at its disposal. The use of dedicated cutting and machining tools enables the teams at Le Creusot to manufacture parts characterized by precision and strength.
Shorter cycles, quick reactions, smaller inventories and reduced production costs combine to make Le Creusot an integral part of Safran Aircraft Engines' continuous improvement drive.
The site has greatly developed its industrial capacities and is looking resolutely at the future with the Factory of the Future project.
