CFM56-5B PIP: the engine of choice for the A320ceo family
Developing 21,600 to 33,000 pounds of takeoff thrust, the CFM56-5B is the only engine that can power every model in the Airbus A320ceo family. The CFM56-5B PIP (Performance Improvement Program), the latest production configuration for the engine, features a number of improvements, notably to the core and fan blades, to give operators a 0.5% reduction in fuel consumption and a 1% cut in maintenance costs. The CFM56-5B PIP is fully interchangeable with other CFM56-5B engines and modules. Designed to minimize the total cost of ownership of the A320ceo family, the CFM56-5B offers exceptional reliability.
